Lyrics

Verse 1
She drew a heart ‘round one baby rose
Wrote Daddy I love you signed x's and o's
Redneck broken crayons penned her lock box memory
She gave that card to him on the day
A twister blew in fillin’ the sky with rain
She says the night that it happened, they prayed
Chorus
Father. Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
The love in his heart shined on her face
When they bowed their head, she peeked as she prayed
She says an Angel saved ‘em, ‘n slipped away
Softly Daddy smiled with the roof tore away
She heard him say, Can I have this dance in the rain
Verse 2
Safe in his arms, she laid her head on his chest
Swayed on his feet like a rose on a stem
She closed her eyes for fear of the wind
She'd give the moon to roll back the clouds
Down at his grave years later now
She brings with her that old card where she prays
Chorus
Father, now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul to keep
The love in his heart shines on her face
When she bows her head, she peaks as she prays
Calling on the name of Jesus she prays
If your smiling down and see a teardrop today
Will you ask Daddy, Lord, can I have this dance in the rain
She prays Heavenly Lord, please calm the storm
Jesus today, can I have this dance in the rain
